Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Literally the best fries I've ever had. You gotta try these! Prices are as everywhere in the keys but here its really worth every dollar. Very nice and friendly staff, good food, huuuuge iced coffee (also highly recommended!) and all over a beautiful place. Thanks for having us as your guests!"
"The servers were great. Took drink orders. Came back when we’d had a Chaco to look over the menu. My wife is a vegetarian and was very pleasantly surprised by the veg options available. I had a cheeseburger and fries. Both my wife and I were happy with the food. The server came back frequently to check on us. The place had character similar to an Irish pub. It was clean. We found prices very reasonable. The only thing was the music was too loud. My wife and I had to lean over and talk up to be heard. We noticed too late there was an adjoining room that might have been quieter. Highly recommend this place!"
"It was pretty good, but the tuna pork was a bit salty, and the Shepherds Pie had a slightly gamey taste."
"We had an excellent visit to Old Town Tavern & Beer Garden on Duval Street. The Fish & Chips with Smithwick’s Ale-battered grouper were hands down the best I’ve ever had. The batter was perfectly crisp, the fish was fresh and flaky, and the fries were hearty and well seasoned. Absolutely worth ordering!!! We also tried the Grilled Greek Salad with romaine, feta, olives, cucumber, tomato, and citrus vinaigrette. Even though we didn’t really taste or see the “grilled” aspect, it was still a flavorful and refreshing salad that paired nicely with the heartier fish and chips. Another highlight was the Blue Chair Bay Key Lime Colada, served on the rocks. It was smooth, creamy, and delicious. Even though it tasted more like a traditional piña colada than something uniquely “key lime,” it was easily the best one I had during my time in Key West! Darker cherries were a nice touch. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and it’s also dog friendly as you can see from one of my photos our pup appears in. They kindly brought water for him and made sure he was comfortable (dogs do have to stay leashed on the floor). All in all, Old Town Tavern delivered excellent food, great drinks, excellent service and a welcoming vibe. I would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in Key West."
"Great spot with outdoor seating. Good people watching. Our server was excellent. She reminded us that happy hour was ending in a few minutes when we arrived so we wouldn't miss out. Tuna poke bowl appetizer was a ten out of ten. The short rib was crispy and hot with good heat on the pepper sauce. The meat was a bit under seasoned for our taste. We shared the fish and chips which offered two large pieces with tons of steak style fries. It was served with a very nice remoulade. The dish was hot and fresh but a tad greasy, for our taste. The hefeweizen and hazy IPA were cold and delicious. The dishes around us looked abundant and well prepared. The service was fast and very pleasant. Everyone was having fun. Old Town Tavern is worth a visit for sure."
"We came in around 630pm and there was plenty of seating. We seated ourselves and it took about 10-15 minutes for our server take drink orders. A little slow but service was good in all . Food was amazing. We ordered burgers and fish sandwich one issue with a burger that caused it to come out super late and manager came over to apologize. They took that burger off our bill. Great atmosphere, great good great vibe."
"Stopped in on a Monday around 6pm for Happy hour. The pork belly appetizer was great and the beer was cold and refreshing. Also excited they had many nonalcoholic options on the menu so I didnt have to ask a million questions. Wish I could stay up till 11pm to do late night Happy hour! Our waitress was nice and quick!"
"This place is an absolute food gem! The folks that own this joint are amazing, I have lived here for seven years and they are stinkin' cute. This is the one restaurant that will give you a gastro pub style experience in KW. Lovely location!..and also serve you in the late hours! Try the scotch eggs and the pig and pickle flatbread is to die for :) recently just picked up some land from a friend of mine and they are doing lots of great work to it. I am really glad they are making sure they take care of the locals for the year their lease was signed too. Love you guys <3 dont go anywhere! Thank you!"
